At the time of his induction to the Warrior Hall of Fame Dr. Erickson was beginning his 26th year as coach of track and field at CSU, Stanislaus. Coach Erickson’s primary area of coaching is men and women’s throwing events. Mark has worked with sixteen All Americans, ten conference champions, numerous National Qualifiers, and one individual National Champion. Coach Erickson also initiated the Don Franklin Invitational track and field meet in 1983, which has consistently been one of the largest and best high school meets in this area. Coach Erickson has said that of the many athletes he has worked with, he is most proud of the fact that all but a few have earned their degrees. “They were true student-athletes,” he said.
Dr. Erickson is a proud graduate of CSU, Stanislaus himself, having earned his bachelor's degree and master's degree here before moving on to obtain his doctorate from the University of LaVerne.
